Riding high on the critical success of Being John Malkovich, the actor and director Spike Jonze is in talks to helm a film based on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has spent years in development hell, with directors as diverse as Ron Howard and Agnieszka Holland showing interest in the project. It's the story of a man who ages backwards. When at 50 Button meets a 30 year old, he has to face the woman he loves ageing while he becomes progressively younger. According to the Hollywood Reporter, it's expected that Jonze will power the movie along while writer Charlie Kaufman, who worked with Jonze on Being John Malkovich, tidies up the script.
