At long last, we know when to expect the return of Star Trek icon Jean-Luc Picard (AKA Patrick Stewart) to our screens. Thanks to the show's panel at this year's New York Comic-Con, the Picard-focused show will be on viewscreens in the UK via Amazon Prime Video from 24 January. Here's the trailer for those in Britain.

Star Trek: Picard catches up with Jean-Luc years after his time spent captaining the Enterprise-D. Living (or is it hiding out?) on his family vineyard in France, he's alerted to a huge new threat by a mysterious young woman. And he's also having visions of Data (Brent Spiner).

Returning to Starfleet, he's rebuffed by the higher-ups, and so decides to strike out on his own. But not before he seeks out some old friends (including Jonathan Frakes' Will Riker and Marina Sirtis' Deanna Troi) for advice and recruiting some new faces for this unexpected return to space.

Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway and Evan Evagora are the newcomers here. Star Trek: Picard has its official debut in the States on 23 January, carried, like Discovery on CBS All Access. Find the Stateside trailer (annoying rights issues mean separate but identical trailers) below.
