By now, writer/producer Derek Kolstad has become something of a brand in himself, cranking out variations on the skilled-fighter-beset-by-enemies genre that has included three John Wick chapters, Nobody and The Package. He's set up another of that style of film with Coyote Blue, which has Sterling K. Brown starring and Star Trek Picard's Hanelle M. Culpepper set to direct.

Coyote Blue will track a seemingly ordinary man (Brown) who is hunted by a ruthless criminal syndicate for his mysterious cargo, and now must navigate the treacherous terrain of Route 66 while unleashing his lethal set of skills in a fight for survival. Amazon coughed up the cash to secure the rights to the film after seeing off other companies (hopefully no blood was spilled).

Brown is more normally known for the likes of TV's This Is Us and dramatic work, though we know he could convincingly be a badass. Culpepper, meanwhile, has been in demand on the small screen of late, recently hired as one of the key team members for the adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys.
