Well here's a new one. We've heard of adaptations of self-help books (He's Not That Into You) and even board games (Ridley Scott's possible Monopoly movie), but diet books? Now that's novel.

Hilary Swank and a her producing partner Molly Smith have picked up the rights to the bestseller French Women Don't Get Fat, with a view to turning it into a movie.

The book, written by former champagne executive Mireille Guiliano, posits that French ladies don't put on weight despite munching on pastries and throwing back booze. We've not read the book, but it all sounds terribly scientific.

The plan is to adapt the book into a romantic comedy, which Swank may topline, about a manager of a champagne company dealing with tough life lessons. Freaky Friday writer Heather Hach is penning the script.
