Though he has a reputation for letting spoilers leak more than a faulty tap drips water, Tom Holland is trying hard these days not to let nuggets of info slip on his upcoming projects. Yet he's not above hyperbole, such as suggesting that we can expect big things from the next Spider-Man movie.

"I can say that it’s the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made. You sit down, read the script, and see what they’re trying to do, and they’re succeeding. It’s really impressive. I’ve never seen a standalone superhero movie quite like it," Holland tells Variety about the third Spidey film in which he plays Peter Parker and his web-crawling alter ego. "And I’m just, you know, again, that lucky little shit who happens to be Spider-Man in it. We got a lot more shooting to do. We started before Christmas and shot for like seven weeks. We stopped for the Christmas break, and then we’re starting again. I’m just as excited as everyone else to see it, let alone be a part of it."

The new movie, directed again by Jon Watts, has yet to announce its title or an official synopsis, will follow on the events of Far From Home, which ended with Parker's secret identity revealed to the world and framed for the death of Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). We're expecting a heavy multiverse presence, with Benedict Cumberbatch popping up as Doctor Strange and appearances from various characters dotted throughout other Spidey franchises (Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx's Electro among them). Will "ambitious" equal "overstuffed," as Spider-Man movies have become before? It's too early to say, but in the MCU we trust.
