JJ Abrams' Star Trek is into shooting now, but is still adding to its cast. Variety reports today that Chris Hemsworth and Clifton Collins Jr have joined the crew.

Hemsworth will play George Kirk, Captain Kirk's father and the man to blame for the cruel middle name Tiberius. Collins will play the right-hand man of Eric Bana's villain Nero.

We're not particularly familiar with Hemsworth, though IMDb says he featured in both Home and Away and Dancing With The Stars, so the latter suggests he's famous somewhere. The strange thing is that he's only 24, while his on-screen son, Chris Pine, is 27. So, should we assume that Kirk's old man will only appear in flashback?

You'll probably remember Collins as Perry Smith in Capote or maybe the crazy gun-wielding drug dealer in Rules of Attraction. He has, as yet, not been asked to appear in Dancing With The Stars. But there's always next year.
