Tragedy hit the Columbia Pictures production of Spider-Man yesterday (6 March) when a member of the construction crew was killed while working on an office building set for the Tobey Maguire-starring movie. The man, who has so far not been named, died when two cranes collided, fire officials said. The incident occurred at around 9 AM in the Los Angeles suburb of Downey, location for several of the film's larger sets. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the accident." The studio and the filmmakers are deeply saddened by what has happened and send their condolences to all involved," a spokesperson from Columbia Pictures told Empire Online. "We are cooperating fully with authorities investigating the accident.”
