This is not strictly film news, but the fact that Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are appearing together on stage next year seems worthy of mention. Sadly no, they are not reprising their film roles for X-Men: The Musical, but starring in Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot.

Stewart will play Vladimir and McKellen Estragon, two tramps who are waiting for a character called, well, you guessed it, to turn up*. The pair haven't appeared on stage together since 1977, and will be touring next March before settling into the Royal Theatre Haymarket in April.

There's currently another production of the 1953 play appearing on Broadway, starring Nathan Lane and Bill Irwin. No offence to those two actors, but with these two stars in the West End, London would totally win in a Godot-off. We'd kinda like to see X-Men: The Musical, though: Oh What A Beautiful Mutant; Music of the Nightcrawler; Singin' in the Rain (Storm's Theme) etc.

*Spoiler: he doesn't.
