In the ongoing race to see which Game Of Thrones prequel series will make it to screens following House Of The Dragon, the show based on George RR Martin's Tales Of Dunk & Egg just took a jump forward. Steve Conrad is now aboard to write the show.

The one-hour show would follow Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg), in stories set 90 years prior to the events of A Song Of Ice And Fire. The books, 1998's The Hedge Knight, 2003's The Sworn Sword and 2010's The Mystery Knight were later collected as A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms in 2015.

Conrad's TV CV includes Patriot for Prime Video and current stop-motion series Ultra City Smiths. He also wrote films including Wonder and the Ben Stiller-directed version of The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty. Having him working on the show by no means it'll definitely arrive, but it's positive forward progress.

House Of The Dragon, meanwhile, touches down next year.
