Given that one of the major credits on Harrison Ford's TV CV is a little blip known as The Star Wars Holiday Special, it's perhaps not shocking that he's mostly chose to stick to bigger screens. Still, he's been tempted back by the chance to work with Jason Segel and some of the Ted Lasso team on Shrinking.

The Apple TV+ comedy series follows a grieving therapist (Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives... including his own.

Ford, who is joining Shrinking after lengthy negotiations, will play Dr. Phil Rhodes, a down-to earth, sharp as a tack “blue collar shrink,” blunt but with an ever present twinkle. Phil is a pioneer in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy who has built a successful practice over the years that he shares with his two young proteges, Jimmy and Gaby. Fiercely independent, Phil has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, which forces him out of his comfort zone as he grapples with intrusive friends, his estranged family and his legacy.

Segel created the show and is working with Lasso showrunner Bill Lawrence and writer/actor/grumping legend Brett Goldstein (who will perhaps use the press tour for the show as a chance to Venmo our Chris will the money for a month's Apple TV+ access, as promised here) to develop it. Shrinking will kick off shooting this year, but doesn't have a premiere date yet.

And getting back to big-screen Ford news, he'll be on our screens again as Indiana Jones in the (checks notes)... well, it says fifth, but we're not sure we remember the fourth... movie, due in UK cinemas on 30 June next year.
