Netflix has been making bold strides in the animation medium, picking up titles from elsewhere (such as The Mitchells Vs The Machines) and developing its own films and shows. A new example is stop-motion series The House, which will feature the voice talents of Helena Bonham Carter, Dizzee Rascal, Mia Goth, Miranda Richardson, Matthew Goode and Jarvis Cocker.

The streaming service announced the new show –an anthology of three chapters that tell different stories but all feature a single house and its inhabitants – at animation festival Annecy. Chapter one is directed by Belgian auteurs Emma de Swaef and Marc James Roels, Chapter two by Swedish director Niki Lindroth von Bahr, and Chapter three by Paloma Baeza.

Bonham Carter is playing an eccentric tenant called Jen, while Rascal will be a character only known as "the policeman".

The House design - Netflix

"The characters in The House’ albeit in different ways, are all trying to make sense of the world and their place within it,” says producer Charlotte Bavasso. "It’s about their flawed attempt to conform to an idea of who they think they are or who they think they ought to be. And whether they manage to break free or not. We couldn’t have dreamt of a better cast: they all embraced the heart of those existentialist comedies and the uniquely caustic sense of humor of our visionary filmmakers and writer in spectacular ways."

There is no information yet on when the show might hit Netflix, but given the animation process, it could be next year.
