Jeff Bridges might not be the person you would expect to go the Liam Neeson/John Wick route, but then who would ever bet against Jeff Bridges? He's on action movie mode – albeit on TV – for new series The Old Man, which has a first trailer online.
Bridges here is Dan Chase, an ex-CIA officer who has retired on his own account to live off the grid. When he’s discovered, a double target is put on his back by old enemies chasing him and government agencies trying to make sure the rogue agent doesn’t let old secrets resurface.
Which means? He breaks out the weaponry and proves he's still man to be reckoned with, age notwithstanding.
With Amy Brenneman as a woman who is important in Dan's life - his daughter, perhaps? – and John Lithgow as Harold Harper, the FBI’s assistant director for counterintelligence, who leads the government's manhunt for Chase.
Faran Tahir, Alia Shawkat, EJ Bonilla and Gbenga Akinnagbe are all in the cast for the show, which will be on FX in the States on 16 June and, assuming it arrives immediately, the same day via Disney+ here.
