Horror maestro Mike Flanagan brought us Midnight Mass this year, his latest miniseries ending up on our Best TV Shows Of 2021 list. But next year, he'll kick off work on ambitious miniseries The Fall Of The House Of Usher, which as Flanagan reveals in a new twitter thread, boasts a sprawling ensemble loaded with great actors. Mark Hamill, Frank Langella, Mary McDonnell and Carla Gugino are among those in the first announcement.

According to Flanagan, this new miniseries is, "a modern remix of some of the most iconic works of Edgar Allan Poe." So don't go expecting a straight version of Usher.

Langella is on to play Roderick, the towering patriarch of the Usher dynasty, while McDonnell is playing Madeline Usher, Roderick's sister and the hidden hand of the Usher dynasty. Poe's legendary investigator C. Auguste Dupin will be played by the excellent Carl Lumbly, while Flanagan is keeping Gugino and Hamill's characters secret for now. He did, however, hint at Hamill's role being one "surprisingly at home in the shadows". HE'S PLAYING JIM THE VAMPIRE FROM WHAT WE DO IN THE SHA.... Okay, he's not, but we would watch that crossover.

Flanagan teases many more names to come in what promises to be the biggest ensemble he's assembled. Keep it locked to Empire for more info.
