As one of the TV treats of the year so far, murder mystery comedy The Afterparty was not-so-shockingly renewed for a second season last month. And, alongside the returning Tiffany Haddish as Detective Danner, news arrives that Sam Richardson's Aniq and Zoe Chao's Zoe will both be back.

Written by Christopher Miller and produced by him alongside creative partner Phil Lord (with Anthony King as a fellow showrunner), The Afterparty's first season saw Danner investigating the murder of preening pop star/actor/whatever Xavier, played by Dave Franco, at a party following his and group of former classmates high school reunion.

Little has been said about what will happen in Season 2 beyond Danner taking on a new case, though it'll reportedly be set at a wedding and, like the first, utilise different genres for each episode.

Most of the cast will be new this time around, with Zach Woods playing a character named Edgar, Paul Walter Hauser as Travis, Poppy Liu as Grace, Anna Konkle as Hannah, Jack Whitehall as Sebastian, Elizabeth Perkins as Isabel, and Vivian Wu as Vivian.

No date has emerged for the new Season to land on Apple TV+, but it seems likely to arrive early next year.
