Bradley Cooper has enjoyed a big success recently with true-life, if controversial, military story American Sniper. He’s once more back with the armed forces – if a little more adjacent – for Cameron Crowe’s latest comedy drama, which now bears the title Aloha. Take a look at the first trailer for the movie.
Crowe, who suffered a serious setback with Elizabethtown but seemed to rebound a little with We Bought A Zoo, is playing firmly to his strengths here, even if the film had to endure a little development hell on its way to the screen.
With vague overtones of Elizabethtown in its hero’s past, Cooper plays Brian Gilcrest, a military contractor who once blew a massive assignment in Hawaii, much to the displeasure of gruff military man Alec Baldwin, and former flame Tracy (Rachel McAdams). But Gilcrest still has enough of a reputation that he’s sent back to the island at the behest of the wealthy Carson Welch (Bill Murray), who is looking to set up a new US satellite. There, he reconnects with old pal Colonel Lacy (Danny McBride) and meets his driven Air Force liaison, played by Emma Stone. The two spark, but Brian also has to confront his past and his feelings for Tracy.
The **Almost Famous **writer/director has gathered quite the cast around that already impressive ensemble, with John Krasinski, Jay Baruchel, Edi Gathegi and more reporting for duty. Once set for a March release here, the film will now arrive on September 4.
