Alfonso Cuaron, Vanessa Bauche, Guillermo Navarro and Brigitte Broch - who between them have worked on such big screen gems as Children Of Men, Amores Perros, Pan's Labyrinth and Babel -are most definitely Mexi_cans_. And luckily for the UK, they are now all scheduled to appear in London next weekend (July 27-30) as BAFTA hosts the very first New Mexican Cinema Celebration.

Q&As, masterclasses, parties and screenings are all due to take place over the course of the four day event. 2006 was something of a watermark year for Mexican film. Guillermo Del Toro's stunning Pan's Labyrinth and Alejandro González Iñárritu's globe-striding Babel were both recognised at this year's key awards ceremonies, while Alfonso Cuaron's stroke of apocalyptic genius Children Of Men wowed critics and audiences alike.
