We can now confirm that Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker will be shown at this year's Empire and BFI Movie-Con II. The film will screen on the Sunday night (August 16) at 20.45, and trust us, you're going to want to see this.

The Hurt Locker follows a US Army bomb disposal unit based in Iraq, as the soldiers - including Guy Pearce, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty and Jeremy Renner - attempt to defuse a series of lethal explosive mines and bombs laid in the streets of Baghdad. As you'd expect from Bigelow, there's action and machismo to burn, but there's also squirm-inducingly tense scenes and a thought-provoking look at war hidden in there too.

Tickets are on sale now, and Empire readers have a head-start on the general public, so call the BFI on 0207 928 3232 to book.
