New Japanese Real Steel Trailer Drops

We’ve already had a couple of promos for Real Steel aimed primarily at UK and US audiences. But now the Japanese trailer has hit the web, and it comes out punching with plenty of new footage. Take a look below.

Well, we say it comes out punching. But while there are some meaty moments of robo-boxing carnage, this new trailer is actually surprisingly heavy on the family aspect. While you might think a promo tailored to Japanese audiences would shove the technology front and centre, that’s not the case here.

Nope, instead what we get is a real primer on Hugh Jackman’s former boxer turned manager/promoter trainer Charlie Kenton and the difficult relationship he strikes up with Max (Dakota Goyo), the son he abandoned years ago when he couldn’t handle the pressure of being a dad. We’re also treated to a few lines from Evangeline Lilly’s gym owner character and some added details about Charlie and Max’s discovery of Atom, the junked sparring bot who is more than meets the eye...

With Shawn Levy directing, Real Steel hits our cinemas on October 7.
