There's something lurking in the woods. As it prepares to rock FrightFest this weekend, Corin Hardy's Irish folk-horror The Hallow has summoned up a new poster, demonstrating that nature does indeed have a dark side. Joseph Mawle, Bojana Novakovic, Michael McElhatton and Michael Smiley lead the cast, but the star here is the artwork, courtesy of Artmachine, from a design by Hardy himself.

"I always keep a sketchbook on me for doodles, designs, storyboards and creature concept ideas," Hardy tells Empire, "and I had this idea for a Hallow poster during the shoot, where the flaming scythe would illuminate the abstract forest terrors in a way that nodded toward some of the beautifully crafted, classic illustrated movie posters by the likes of Drew Struzen and Graham Humphreys. The guys at IFC and Artmachine did a really fantastic job of bringing my black biro sketch to atmospheric and creepy life.”

Having already gone over well at Sundance and Edinburgh, The Hallow plays at the FilmFour FrightFest on Saturday night (where Hardy will no doubt field a few questions about his next project, The Crow). For everyone else, it's out in the UK on November 13.
