Prepare For The Ultimate Happy Madison

Say what you will about Adam Sandler (and many do; but we like the guy… and Happy Gilmore is a minor classic), but the man is loyal to a fault, using his Happy Madison production company to give starring roles and frequent cameos to some of his closest friends, like Rob Schneider, David Spade, and former SNL buddy, Chris Rock.

But though they’ve come close in the past, Sandler and his pals have never appeared together in the one movie. Until, that is, now. Or should we say until, that is, sometime in the future when the untitled Columbia Pictures comedy starring Sandler, Rock, Spade, Schneider and, just for good measure, Kevin James, is released.

Yes, in what can only be described as the **Ocean’s Eleven **of fratboy comedies, Columbia has assembled the Happy Madison dream team for one last job. And if you’re wondering where James fits in, well, he starred with Sandler in I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry, while Paul Blart: Mall Cop is a Happy Madison joint.

The new comedy, co-written by Sandler and Fred Wolf (a Happy Madison regular, who directed** Dickie Roberts: Child Star**, a Spade vehicle), revolves around five childhood best friends who reunite after 30 years on the 4th July weekend. Hilarity, no doubt of the lewd and crude variety, will ensue. And at some point, someone will say, ‘You can do it!’

Dennis Dugan, another old Sandler mucker, will direct. And we’re sure that the likes of Allen Covert, Steve Buscemi and John Turturro will crop up in there somewhere.

To some, this movie will be instantly unpalatable. But we have a soft spot for Sandler when he’s in goofy mode. And with three very funny comedians as back-up (oh, and David Spade), this sounds promising. Even if it is co-written by the guy who directed The House Bunny...
