t's not a pair we would ever have automatically put together, but now that we hear it, we can't think of a better combination. John Goodman and Susan Sarandon have been cast as the parents of Speed Racer in the film of the same name.
These shouldn't be just cameos either; the Speed Racer anime cartoon centred very heavily on the family of the boy racer and his quest to win everything with his souped up go-kart. So expect these two titans of character acting to feature heavily in the Wachoswki brothers' movie.
The brothers' first movie since the Matrix sequels dribbled weakly down the leg of cinema is set to shoot later this year for a 2008 release. Casting is currently underway for Speed's true love, Trixie (we suggest Brittany Murphy, because she's lovely and like a human anime) and Racer X (maybe Patrick Wilson, for his granite jaw and calm authority).
