Second Darwin Film Evolves

All great things come in pairs and hot on the heels of Jon Amiel's Charles Darwin biopic Creation comes news of a second take on the grandfather of evolution. Mrs Darwin stars Rosamund Pike as the aponymous character, playing the better half to Joseph Fiennes' Charles.

Former Bond girl Pike, who has announced that she has already started work on the project with Fiennes, claims to be a solid supporter of Darwin's theories.

"I'm definitely a Darwinist, but playing his wife has been a real eye-opener," she says. "She was very religious and his discoveries placed a heavy strain on their marriage. We are exploring different angles to the story."

The film, directed by Johnny Campbell and produced by Mike Newell, will tell the story of Darwin from his wife's point of view and is currently scheduled for an Autumn 2009 release.

Note: Eagle-eyed readers may notice that we originally mistook news on Mrs Darwin for a casting change on Creation, before realising they're actually completely different films, rewriting the story and hoping none of you noticed. What? it was like this all along...
